Spacey Video Beat Tape

Beats, GIF art and a VHS edition.

Production: Peter Spacey · Artwork: Stefan Rosioru

About
the work.

Spacey Video Beat Tape connects Peter Spacey’s beatmaking with the visual language of GIF art. Released through InchPerSecond in 2018, the project extends beyond an audio release: Spacey’s official portfolio also presents it as an augmented-reality exhibition, while his merchandise archive documents a physical VHS cassette edition.

The label’s release announcement credits Spacey with the production and Stefan Rosioru with the artwork. The music includes tracks such as “21”, “Coli”, “To Go”, “Missing” and “LEX”, which can also be found in the album’s Artlist catalogue. Together, the recording, moving-image concept and physical format show several ways to encounter the same project.

The VHS is part of that original presentation, giving a digital audiovisual work a tangible edition. It belongs to the project’s history and visual identity. Explore the music through the linked catalogue, or contact Spacey about the exhibition and its artwork. The official merchandise page lists the VHS edition as out of stock.
